The designs are original and the quantity is limited. Over a number of years, Mr. Miller has combined the techniques of many skilled craftsmen in arriving at a style of his own. The most outstanding feature of his technique is the planishing, which gives the pewter its hand-hammered appearance and also work-hardens it. Mr. Miller uses pewter made of tin. antimony and copper-a mixture introduced in the United States about 1800. Since it contains no lead, this pewter has much less oxidation than some older types. Mr. Miller has signed each piece.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eThe only care required for Mr. Miller's pieces is washing in warm water and drying thoroughly and carefully, to avoid spotting. For stubborn stains. a small amount of ammonia may be used in the water.
